The historic market town of Aylsham in north Norfolk is this year celebrating 20 years as a Cittaslow and Slow Food town.
To mark the occasion, we are planning a series of food-based events and activities including the first International Street Food Fair at Aylsham Market Place on Sunday 6 July when we hope food vendors will be offering delicacies from all over the world.
Food vendors interested in taking part in the International Food Fair, please contact slowfoodaylsham@gmail.com for more details.
The town is rapidly becoming a foodie destination with eight restaurants, bars and cafes including four new outlets opening in just the last two years. So it is fitting that the celebrations will be based on food and drink.
And street food sellers will already have taken part in our annual Food Festival in October or come along to the regular Food & Craft Markets.
It is also hoped to organise a North Norfolk Farm Food Trail which would involve visits to local food producers and growers, who will arrange farm walks, trailer rides, talks and demonstrations with tastings, BBQs, or meet the animals.
As a Cittaslow town, Aylsham is now part of an international network of towns that respect quality of life, towns that care about their heritage, local produce and skills, and their residents.
