Slow Food Aylsham is once again providing the café at the Family Learning Day at Aylsham High School on Saturday 8 June. There will be a reasonably-priced menu of varied snacks, drinks and filled rolls for a light lunch to suit all tastes, including specialist dietary requirements.
We will be working out of the school canteen and there will be tables in the dining area. Admission and all activities are free.
During the last few years, thousands of family members in the Aylsham Cluster of schools have taken part in at least one family learning session.
Parents, carers, grandparents and other family members really enjoy Family Learning Day which is aimed at providing opportunities for working or playing together and for family members to develop a greater awareness of the school environment and what their child is learning. It is kindly sponsored by Aylsham Rotary.
There will be a range of free activities during the day alongside workshops for the whole family including skateboarding, puppet making and a Hogwarts experience as well as opportunities to play crazy golf, enjoy a variety of science activities and meet miniature donkeys.
Studies show that children of involved parents have better social skills, are less vulnerable to stress and enjoy better health. According to Aylsham Cluster Trust, they also experience greater life satisfaction and have more successful relationships. Some parents are unsure about how they can support their child’s learning and one of the best ways to support their development is to simply have fun with them.
So why not drop in for an hour – or stay for the day. You might learn something.
